Description

4.1mm F4.0 5MP M12 Low Distortion Lens | 1/3” sensor compatible, 3G2P design, distortion<-0.4%, 74° DFOV. Compact size (Φ14×17.8mm, TTL 21.9mm) with clear 5MP output, plug-and-play for machine vision, CCTV & industrial scanning.

Key Features & Product Highlights

  • <-0.4% Ultra-Low Distortion: Straightens peripheral imaging completely to prevent barrel or pincushion skewing, crucial for AI algorithms requiring precise geometric measurement.
  • 5MP Crisp Resolution: Optimally matched with 1/3″ format CMOS sensors to deliver clear 5-megapixel fidelity across the entire frame, avoiding edge blur.
  • Deep Depth of Field (DoF): The F4.0 fixed aperture expands the focus range significantly, keeping moving parts sharply defined from 0.1m to infinity without autofocus lag.
  • Micro Space-Saving Profile: Built into an incredibly small Φ14×17.8mm miniature chassis with a 21.9mm TTL to drastically minimize physical integration space.

Target Applications & Compatible Devices

This low distortion M12 lens is purpose-built for applications requiring strict linear accuracy and a minimized hardware footprint. It excels in automated factory sorting networks, industrial barcode scanners, robotic assembly arms, and multi-camera commercial security systems where edge distortion degrades surveillance data. Its lightweight 3G2P build avoids taxing low-power motor gimbals, while the natural 63° horizontal perspective delivers optimal, unwarped tracking for automotive lens fleet dashcams and smart parking management structures.

Compatible Device List:

  • Sensors: Fully optimized for 1/3″, 1/3.2″, and 1/4″ mainstream CMOS sensors (such as Sony, OmniVision, and Onsemi smart modules).
  • Hardware Platforms: Seamlessly interfaces with Raspberry Pi camera architectures, Arduino vision systems, and specialized industrial USB / GMSL interface boards.
  • Systems: Adapts easily to fixed machine vision inspection blocks, network IP CCTV lens dome housings, and intelligent video intercom door stations.
  • Customization: Supports tailored adaptations including custom anti-reflective (AR) glass coatings or add-on infrared (IR) cut filters to fit specific lab lightning setups.

Designed for Machine Vision and Industrial Inspection applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Why is less than -0.4% distortion important for factory automation (FA)?

Standard lenses cause images to warp around the edges, making precise measurements difficult. A low distortion lens with less than -0.4% distortion ensures that straight lines remain perfectly straight on screen, allowing FA lens software to calculate dimensions immediately without needing heavy digital calibration formulas.

Q2: What is the benefit of the F4.0 fixed iris over a wider aperture?

An F4.0 aperture provides a much wider Depth of Field (DoF) compared to an F2.0 lens. This ensures that items moving along a production line at slightly different heights or distances from the sensor all remain perfectly focused, eliminating the need for complex mechanical autofocus parts.

Q3: Does this 3G2P lens include an integrated IR cut filter?

This standard model has a native 3G2P optical layout without an integrated IR filter, making it ideal for environments utilizing specific monochrome light sources or NIR illumination. For standard daytime color cameras, we can easily add a 650nm IR-cut filter coating during production upon request.

Q4: Can this 1/3″ format lens be used on a larger 1/2.3″ sensor?

No, it is not recommended. If you place a 1/3″ format lens onto a larger 1/2.3″ sensor, it will cause heavy dark corners (vignetting) because the image circle of the lens cannot fully cover the larger sensor area. It is best used on 1/3″, 1/3.2″, or smaller sensors.

Q5: Is the focus stable under high-vibration industrial environments?

Yes. Thanks to its short 21.9mm TTL, rigid fixed iris design, and tiny Φ14mm body, it has an incredibly low center of gravity. Once screwed tightly into your M12x0.5 camera mount and locked with a standard retaining ring, it resists any focus shifting caused by high-vibration machinery.

Q6: What is the Minimum Object Distance (M.O.D.) for close-up inspection?

The M.O.D. is 0.1 meters (10cm). This close-focus ability allows the lens to capture hyper-sharp 5-megapixel images at very close ranges, making it an excellent match for automated PCB inspectors, desktop document readers, and medical diagnostics.
